Blessings

On July 23 Mike came home from work sicker than a dog. The next day we had to take him to the emergency room. After lots of tests we found out he had a kidney stone. He saw a urologist the next day and he told him he would zap it on Monday but couldn't because he is on plavix and he would bleed so he had to wait a week. He was so miserable we were wondering how in the world would he be able to go to Sampsons blessing. Mike had a blessing. He had xrays on July 30th so the Dr. could check on the stone. The Dr. said that the stone was like a jumping bean because it had moved back into the kidney. While it was in the kidney he didn't have much pain and so he was able to go to Sampsons blessing.
The next day he had it zapped but the narcotics just didn't agree with him and that evening the Dr. said he'd need to go to the hospital. He was there for a few days but quit taking the narcotics the last day and endured the pain and he started feeling better. Then he came home and worked on getting his strength back. A couple days later the pain came back with a vengence. The Dr. said to have another catscan to see what was going on. The lipotripsy hadn't shot the stone completely to pieces and there was still a piece in the urethera. He had to deal with that pain until August 13 when it finally passed! He had a couple of weeks to get back on his feet so we could go to Carsons wedding. It was interesting how it all worked out. We feel blessed we were able to attend those important events.
Another blessing was to sit there in the temple with all of our children and their spouses. Thats what we've worked for and I'm grateful!

Lagoon

On July 23rd I did something that I haven't done for about 15 years. I went to Lagoon. We stopped going when Kristine was old enough to go with friends. I went with Randy and Sasha and it was a blast. We had decided to be there at 11:00 and then we figured that she would only be able to handle two or three hours so that would be just fine. She went on every kiddie ride. Randy and I would ride with her on the kiddie rides that adults could go on. Randy also went with her on the Tidal Wave, Tilt a Whirl, and we all rode on the ferris wheel, train, etc. She was still having so much fun we decided to stay and eat the meal Novell furnished at 5:00. After that Randy took Sasha to Lagoona Beach. She had so much fun on the slides and doing everything she possibly could until someone threw up in the water and they had to close it down. At least Randy and Sasha had been in there for about an hour. After I helped her get dressed she was ready to go on more rides. I couldn't believe it. She just went from one ride to another. I finally decided I'd better go home at 8:00. She kept going until 10:00 then fell asleep in the stroller on the way to the car. What a little sport she was. It was a day I won't forget.

Weekend in Salina

July 3rd Dad and I headed for Salina. We haven't been there since Thanksgiving so it was good to go down there. We ran a few errands in Salt Lake, went to Sweet Tomato and had lunch, then went to Provo and visited with Patrice, Sasha, and Sampson. We were there a couple of hours. It was so much fun playing with Sasha and seeing just how much Sampson had grown.

We got to Salina around 7:00 and visited with Grandpa and Grandma Taylor. They are doing pretty good considering they are 83 and 82. On July 4th we went to Acord Lake at 9:30 a.m. We visited some more, walked around, then had lunch. We came back to Salina about 1:00. A couple of hours later Randy, Patrice, Sasha, and Sampson came. We went to the parade and Sasha got her bag full of candy.

July 5th we did more visiting then at 12:30 we headed for the Redmond Park where my 40 year class reunion was. It was a blast. There has only been 3 reunions. The five year, fifteen, and twenty. I had only gone to the five year so it had been a long time since I had seen my classmates. There were 47 in our graduating class so we knew each other pretty well. There were a couple I didn't recognize and had to be told who they were but most of the others hadn't changed much. It was great getting caught up with them. We visited for about 3 hours. It sure brought back a lot of memories.

We stopped at Provo again for a Sasha and Sampson break.

It was nice to get away for a few days. The last time we went anywhere was in November.

Fathers Day

Today is June 15th, Fathers day, 2008. I can't help but reminise on a day like today. I loved my Dad very much. He was an honest hard working man. He usually was working from sun up to sun down. Being a dairy farmer wasn't easy but I think he enjoyed it and was good at it. My mother told me that when I was a little girl, I always wanted to be with my Dad. I wanted to go everywhere he went and it broke my heart when he had to go without me. Growing up we would go to Glenwood on most Fathers Days to visit my Grandpa and Grandma Sampson. Grandpa Crane lived across the street so I got to see him all the time, which was cool.
When I got married we went to Salina and visited my Dad and Michaels Dad.
Michael said of his Dad that he never remembers him being gruff. Most of their Fathers Days growing up were spent in other places. They weren't around family very often.
I'd also like to pay tribute to Michael the father of my children. He's also a good man and works hard to provide for us. He's had a lot to contend with the last few years, but he continues to try hard to do all that is required of him.
We were given four special gifts that we will be forever grateful for. Years later we've been given four more special gifts. Eight more wonderful gifts have been added plus one coming in December and we are praying for another one in the near future also.
We love all of you more than words can express!!

Wasatch Back Volunteers

Eric is doing the Wasatch Back next week and I am one of the volunteers. Its a Friday evening and I had Heather, who is another volunteer, come over and go over the rules with me. There's a few pages of them and I wanted to make sure I knew everything I needed to know. I hope I can remember everything. We are at number 15 exchange and it will go from 7:00 p.m. to midnight in Morgan. We will definitely be tired. Especially, me, who seems to be having a bed time at 8:30 lately. But it will be a good experience.

working hard

We decided to finally do something with the North Side of the house. We've got the weeds pretty well killed then we layed down that black preen. Remember those 12 by 12 stones that we got years ago and covered the sandpile with? We used them, plus we've been getting more to cover the area, so it will be nice when it is done. Actually, if you don't know exactly where I'm talking about its the old wood pile, where everyone played in the homemade wood house, tree stumps you sat on, etc. Actually theres a lot of work to do around here, but it just takes time, and oh we can't forget about the money.
